THE Delta State Police Command has rolled out a massive security operation ahead of the Easter weekend, with the state’s Commissioner of Police personally touring major highways and police posts to ensure officers are battle-ready.
In a press release issued on Friday, SP Bright Edafe, the Command’s Public Relations Officer, confirmed that all necessary security arrangements have been finalised to guarantee a peaceful and hitch-free celebration. Officers have been deployed to churches, event centres, highways, recreational spots, and other public spaces, while tactical teams and patrol units remain on standby across the state.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Yemi Oyenisi, has given firm directives to all Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers, and Tactical Commanders to increase visibility policing, sustain intelligence-led operations, and remain on high alert throughout the festive period. During a pre-Easter meeting with Area Commanders, CP Oyenisi urged them to liaise closely with religious leaders and maintain open communication channels during and after the celebrations.
Demonstrating his hands-on approach, CP Oyenisi on Friday, 3rd April 2026, embarked on a visibility patrol across Delta State, covering key towns including Ibusa, Ogwashi-Uku, Ozoro, Oleh, Ughelli, Warri, and Effurun. The patrol allowed him to stop at checkpoints, interact with officers on duty, and assess their alertness and operational preparedness.
Addressing personnel in the field, the Commissioner emphasised the importance of proactive and intelligence-driven policing. He reminded officers that early detection and swift response are vital to preventing crime. He also charged them to remain courteous and professional in all public dealings, warning in strong terms that extortion and any form of unprofessional conduct would not be tolerated.

Reaffirming his commitment to people-oriented policing, CP Oyenisi called on officers to uphold the core values of the Nigeria Police Force as they carry out their lawful duties.
The Command has urged residents to stay vigilant and security-conscious, and to report any suspicious activities to the nearest police station or via the Control Room on 08036684974. Parents and guardians have also been advised to keep a close watch on their children during the celebrations.
The Commissioner reiterated the Command’s unwavering commitment to protecting lives and property and appealed for continued public cooperation to maintain peace and order across the state.

The Delta State Police Command extended its best wishes to all Christian faithful for a peaceful, hitch-free, and happy Easter celebration.
