‘Be Vigilant But Courteous’ – Delta Police Chief Tasks Officers as UTME Continues

AS the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) enters its second day, the Delta State Police Command has ramped up visibility policing at all CBT centres, with the Commissioner of Police, CP Yemi Oyeniyi, personally leading an assessment tour across the state on Friday.

The move follows a direct order from the Inspector-General of Police and reflects the Command’s commitment to a secure, orderly examination process for candidates, centre officials, and other stakeholders.

Speaking during the inspection, CP Oyeniyi reminded officers that their role extended beyond mere presence. “Professionalism, vigilance and courteous conduct in dealing with members of the public are non-negotiable,” he said.

The CP also took time to appreciate JAMB officials for their seamless coordination, pledging that the Command would respond swiftly to any security-related complaints. “Do not hesitate to contact us if you need anything,” he assured them.

While expressing satisfaction with the level of compliance with deployment orders, CP Oyeniyi warned Area Commanders and Divisional Police Officers against letting their guard down, insisting on sustained supervision until the last paper is submitted.
