Teen Remanded Over Alleged Defilement of 10-year-old Girl In Public Toilet

A 19-year-old man, Chijioke Elvis, has been arraigned before an Ogba Magistrate Court in Lagos accused of defiling and sexually assaulting a 10-year-old girl inside a communal toilet.

The alleged incident took place on 22nd March 2026 at approximately 8:00pm at Unity Estate, Badore Road, Ajah, Lagos, according to police reports.

Prosecutors allege that Elvis lured the young victim into a public toilet within the neighbourhood and had sexual intercourse with her.

In a separate count, he is also accused of digitally penetrating the child’s anus.

The Commissioner of Police brought two charges against Elvis under Sections 137 and 261 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015 – offences that carry lengthy prison sentences upon conviction.

A sworn affidavit supporting a remand order, deposed by Woman Inspector Raimi Idowu of the Gender Section, Lagos State Police Command, Ikeja, stated that the case was transferred from Langbasa Division to the Gender Unit on 31st March 2026.

The affidavit further revealed that the victim’s mother made a formal report alleging that Elvis had lured her daughter into the public facility and committed the acts. He was subsequently arrested and charged.

When the case came before the court, the prosecutor, Inspector Lucky Ihiehie, did not request that the defendant enter a plea. Instead, he asked the court to refer the matter to the Directorate of Public Prosecutions (DPP) for legal advice.

Presiding Magistrate Mrs M.O. Tanimola ordered that Elvis be remanded in custody at the correctional centre in Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending the outcome of the DPP’s advice. She also directed the prosecutor to duplicate the case file and forward it to the DPP for review.

The magistrate adjourned the matter for mention, at which point the DPP’s report will determine whether the case falls within the jurisdiction of the current court or must be transferred to the High Court.
