Houston police files charges against suspect wanted for murder

ACCORDING to Houston Police Department, charges have been filed against a suspect wanted in the fatal shooting of a man at 5470 Braesvalley Drive about 6 p.m. on May 28.

The suspect, Jomaal Xavierous Carroll, 19, has been charged with murder in the 208th State District Court.

The victim is identified as Roland Dewayne Vessel, 23.

Houston Police Department Homicide Division Sergeant W. Dunn and Detective S. Chettry said:

“HPD patrol officers responded to a shooting call in the parking lot of an apartment complex at the above address and found the victim, later identified as Mr. Vessel, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

“Paramedics pronounced him deceased at the scene.

“Investigators learned Vessel and the suspect were involved in an argument prior to the shooting.

“The suspect fled the scene on foot.

“The following day (May 29), investigators released surveillance video of the unknown suspect.

“Further investigation identified him as Jomaal Carroll.

“On Tuesday (June 11), charges were filed on Carroll and a warrant was issued for his arrest.
