A 16-year-old boy has been arrested and is set to face charges in Lagos State for allegedly raping a 13-year-old girl inside the church.
It was gathered that the incident happened at New Apostolic Church, located at Ariwola Avenue, Opebi area of Ikeja.
According to our source, PM EXPRESS, the boy lured the victim into the church and forcefully had sex with her. He was caught red-handed in the act.
The matter was immediately reported to the police in the area and the suspect was taken into custody.
He was later transferred to the Gender Section of the State Police Command for interrogation over his alleged conduct.
He was found culpable after investigation and was charged before the Ogba Magistrate Court, Lagos State, for the alleged offence which attracts several years of imprisonment or life imprisonment.
However, the Court did not take his plea when he was arraigned following a motion moved by the prosecutor, Inspector John Iberedem, asking the court to refer the matter to the DPP for legal advice.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. E.Kubenije, ordered his remand in custody at the juvenile home and directed the prosecutor to duplicate the file and send it to the DPP for advice.
The matter was adjourned till 11th December, 2024, for the report of the DPP’s advice to be available, which will determine if the matter will be transferred to the High Court or not.
The names of the defendant and victim, as of the time of filing this report, were not available.
