THE Delta State Police Command has recorded notable successes in its fight against crime with the arrest of suspected armed robbers, kidnappers, and cultists.
These operations, which led to the recovery of a G3 rifle, a pump-action gun, three Beretta pistols, and a locally-fabricated firearm, reaffirm the commitment of Commissioner of Police Olufemi Abaniwonda to ensuring the safety of residents in the state.

On 17 January 2025, officers of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) conducted a stop-and-search operation along Ibusa Road in Asaba.
Two suspects, Ogochukwu Stephen, 25, and Christian Emmanuel, 24, were arrested after two rounds of live 9mm ammunition were discovered in their tricycle.

Acting on a tip-off, officers from the Agbarho Division executed a search warrant at his home, uncovering a G3 rifle, a pump-action gun, and a cutlass hidden in his ceiling.
“This recovery underscores the importance of public cooperation with law enforcement,” said CP Abaniwonda, according to Edafe. “Every piece of credible information brings us closer to a safer Delta State.”

On 18 January, the Bomadi Division arrested Felix Emizibo, 29, after receiving reports of suspected cultists brandishing weapons.
During the operation, a fabricated Beretta pistol was recovered. Investigations revealed that Emizibo purchased the weapon from his uncle for ₦150,000.
“This arrest sends a clear message that no one is above the law, and criminality will not be tolerated,” stated SP Edafe.
Edafe quoted Commissioner Abaniwonda as commending the efforts of his officers and called for increased public support.
“The dedication of our men and women in uniform is unparalleled,” he said. “We urge members of the public to continue trusting the police and providing timely information that will help us combat crime.”
He reassured residents of the command’s resolve to maintain security.
“We will not rest until every criminal is brought to book and Delta State becomes a haven for all law-abiding citizens,” the Commissioner added.
All suspects are currently in custody as investigations continue, with further updates expected in the coming weeks.
