Police Crack Down on Criminals in Delta State

THE Delta State Police Command has intensified its crackdown on crime, arresting suspected kidnappers and gunmen in a series of successful operations.
On 2 February 2025, officers from the CP Special Assignment Team (CP-SAT), led by ASP Julius Robinson, raided a hideout in Evwokenren Layout, off Ughelli Road, Agbarho.

The operation targeted the fleeing leader of a notorious kidnapping gang, identified as Emeka (surname unknown).
During the raid, police recovered a fabricated semi-automatic Beretta pistol with four rounds of live ammunition, four locally made cut-to-size guns, thirteen rounds of live cartridges, and a pair of military uniforms hidden in a black polythene bag.
The suspect is now in custody, while efforts to apprehend other gang members are ongoing.

In another operation on 19 February 2025, officers of Safer 025 Highway Patrol arrested four suspects at a stop-and-search checkpoint along the Benin-Agbor expressway.
The suspects, identified as Buhari Bala (28), Habibu Sale (25), Abdulwahab Musa (20), and Taisu Bala (20), were found in possession of three locally made long guns and charms.
They claimed they were hunters travelling from Zaria, Kaduna State, to Igbogri Community near Benin. Investigations are continuing.
Earlier, on 17 January 2025, acting on a tip-off, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Agbarho Division, CSP Pius Eredei, led officers to the residence of one Eriga Enyuche (40).

A search of his one-room apartment uncovered a G-3 rifle and a pump-action gun hidden in the ceiling.
The Commissioner of Police, Delta State, CP Olufemi Abaniwonda, reiterated his commitment to ensuring the state remains unsafe for criminals.
“We will not relent in our efforts to protect lives and property. Delta State will remain a hostile environment for criminals,” he said.
He urged the public to assist the police by providing timely and credible information, either at the nearest station or through the command’s control room numbers.
