Woman Arrested In Paris After Throwing Newborn From Hotel Window

A young American woman traveling through Europe has been taken into custody in Paris after allegedly throwing her newborn baby out of a hotel window, resulting in the child’s death, authorities announced Tuesday.

According to the Paris prosecutor, the incident occurred on Monday morning when the woman, who had been traveling with a group of young adults, allegedly threw the baby from a second-floor window of a hotel. Emergency responders rushed the newborn to a hospital, but unfortunately, the child was pronounced dead.

The woman, who was part of a Massachusetts-based organization called EF Gap Year, had been traveling through Europe and was taken to a hospital for medical treatment after giving birth. She has since been placed in custody.

In a statement, EF Gap Year expressed shock and sadness over the tragic event and confirmed that they are cooperating fully with local authorities. Counseling support has been offered to all group members, and the organization is extending support to the impacted families.

The Paris child protection police unit is investigating the case as a homicide of a minor under 15 years old.

Authorities are also exploring the possibility of pregnancy denial, a condition where a woman remains unaware of or in denial about her pregnancy until labor.
