EFCC Arrests TikTok Influencer For Alleged Naira Mutilation

THE Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested Murja Ibrahim Kunya, a popular TikTok influencer from Kano, for allegedly abusing and mutilating the Naira.
Kunya’s arrest stems from a video showing her spraying Naira notes for fun in a hotel room at Tahir Guest Palace in Kano.
This isn’t Kunya’s first run-in with the law.
CrimesChroniclers reports that she was initially arrested in January 2025 for violating the Central Bank of Nigeria’s Act, which prohibits the abuse and mutilation of the Naira.
After being granted administrative bail, Kunya failed to appear in court, prompting the EFCC to launch a manhunt.
Following weeks of investigation and surveillance, EFCC operatives re-arrested Kunya on Sunday, March 16, 2025.
