Kano Court Sentences Make-Up Artist For Naira Abuse

JUSTICE S.M. Shuaibu of the Federal High Court in Kano has convicted and sentenced make-up artist Abdullahi Musa Huseini (also known as Amuscap) to six months in prison for the abuse of the Naira.
Huseini was sentenced after he pleaded guilty to a single charge related to the abuse and mutilation of Naira notes.
The charge stated: “That you, Abdullahi Musa Huseini, on December 6, 2024, at the Ali Jita Event Centre in Kano, within the jurisdiction of this Honourable Court, tampered with N100,000.00 (One Hundred Thousand Naira) in 1000-naira notes issued by the Central Bank of Nigeria by spraying them during a social event. This act constitutes an offence under Section 21(1) of the Central Bank Act, 2007.”

Upon being arraigned, Huseini admitted to the charge, prompting the prosecution counsel, Zarami Mohammed, to present the case facts and submit evidence to the court.
In delivering the verdict, Justice Shuaibu declared Huseini guilty as charged and sentenced him to six months in prison, without the option of a fine.
Huseini’s arrest followed credible intelligence about his involvement in intentionally mutilating the Nigerian currency by spraying it at his own wedding.
Investigations revealed that Huseini knowingly defaced and misused the Naira notes, disregarding warnings and campaigns by the EFCC against such practices.
