Suspected Armed Robber Arrested in Asaba, Locally Fabricated Pistols Recovered

THE Delta State Police Command has apprehended a suspected cultist and armed robber in Asaba, recovering two locally fabricated firearms in a targeted operation aimed at bolstering public safety across the state.

According to a press statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, the arrest followed a well-coordinated intelligence-led raid carried out on 9th June 2025 by operatives of the Command’s DOPS Buffalo Team, under the leadership of DSP Charles Evboifo.

The suspect, identified as Kingsley Ugochukwu, 40, was arrested at a food canteen—allegedly a popular hideout for cultists.

Upon sighting the operatives, Ugochukwu reportedly attempted to discard a locally fabricated Beretta pistol, which was promptly recovered by the police.

Further investigations revealed suspicious behaviour when the suspect made a covert phone call to his wife during preliminary questioning.

This triggered an extended probe which ultimately led to the arrest of his wife.

Her confession led police to an uncompleted building where a long-range single-barrel gun was concealed, in line with her husband’s instructions.
