Chris Brown Denies Involvement In 2023 Nightclub Assault

Singer Chris Brown has entered a not guilty plea to a charge related to an alleged assault at a London nightclub in 2023. His trial is scheduled for next year.

Dressed in a navy three-piece suit, Brown appeared in person at Southwark Crown Court in London, where he formally denied one count of attempting to inflict grievous bodily harm during a reported February 2023 altercation. It is alleged that he attacked a music producer with a bottle.

In addition to that charge, CrimesChroniclers reports that Brown is also facing allegations of assault and possession of an offensive weapon. He is expected to respond to those charges during a future court appearance.

Responding to the judge when asked for his plea, Brown stated, “Not guilty, ma’am.”

Omololu Akinlolu, an American rapper known by his stage name “Hoody Baby,” also pleaded not guilty to the charge of attempting to cause grievous bodily harm.

Both Brown and Akinlolu are accused of attacking music producer Abe Diaw at Tape, a nightclub located in London’s upscale Mayfair area.

Brown, 36, was taken into custody last month at a Manchester hotel ahead of a planned concert tour in the UK. If convicted, he could face a prison term ranging from two to sixteen years.

The two are due back in court in July, with the trial set to begin on October 26, 2026.

Following an earlier appearance at Manchester Magistrates’ Court, Brown was held in custody but later released after posting a £5 million bond (approximately $6.7 million).

Despite the ongoing legal proceedings, Brown’s tour is underway. It began in Manchester on June 15 and continued with a show in Cardiff on Thursday.

He is scheduled to perform at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, which holds 60,000 people, on Saturday, with additional tour stops planned in Birmingham, Glasgow, Ireland, and the United States.
