In a decisive crackdown on criminal activities, the Delta State Police Command has arrested four suspected cultists, recovered a Beretta pistol with live ammunition, and retrieved a Lexus 330 Jeep reportedly stolen during an armed robbery.
According to a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, the operations were carried out by the CP – Special Assignment Team (CP-SAT) led by ASP Julius Robinson.
On Saturday, 29th June 2025, acting on credible intelligence, operatives stormed Yoruba Street in Sapele and apprehended 31-year-old Rasheed Atanda, a native of Irinle in Kwara State. His arrest led to the capture of three other suspects: Charles Oyowe (36), from Obeda in Warri North; Rewane Ogbitse (49), from Jakpa in Warri South; and Shedrack Oloko (44), from Ethiope East.
A Beretta pistol and three rounds of live ammunition were recovered from Oyowe.
All four suspects reportedly confessed to being members of the notorious EYE confraternity.
The police confirmed that investigations are ongoing.
In a separate operation on Sunday, 30th June 2025, the same team recovered a Lexus 330 Jeep with registration number RBC 656 CN.
The vehicle had been stolen during an armed robbery in which assailants stormed a residence in the early hours of the day, carting away luxury jewellery, mobile phones, and the SUV.
The stolen vehicle was recovered around 6:35 a.m. at UTI Road, off DSC Expressway, Ebrumede.
Police say efforts are underway to track down the fleeing robbery suspects.
Commending the operatives for their swift and coordinated response, Commissioner of Police, CP Abaniwonda Olufemi, highlighted the vital role of community cooperation in achieving security.
He urged residents to continue providing timely and credible information to help prevent and combat crime across the state.
