DELTA State Police have smashed a four-man gun-running syndicate linked to the deadly Effurun incident, where an illegal Beretta pistol was recovered at a park on 1st May 2026 an a suspect was shot in the head in broad daylight by a cop.
After weeks of painstaking intelligence work, police operatives arrested Emmanuel Chukwuemeka in Bayelsa on 4th May, followed by Clifford Boleyelefa, Amadi Princewill (nailed in Imo on 15th May), and Amadi Felix Chibuike (arrested in Owerri on 16th May).
The confession trail is chilling: Emmanuel bought the pistol from Amadi Princewill for ₦290,000, then sold it to a man called Desmond (still on the run) for ₦380,000. Desmond then waybilled the weapon to Effurun, where a deceased middleman, Oghenemine Ogidi, was meant to collect it and forward it to Sapele.
Addressing journalists in Asaba on Monday during the parade of the suspects, CP Yemi Oyeniyi said Amadi Princewill later told police he got the gun from Amadi Felix for ₦200,000.
All four suspects are members of the Black Axe confraternity, he added.
According to him, they’ll appear in court once investigations are complete – whilst police continue their manhunt for Desmond.
