Youngest Son Of Boko Haram Founder Arrested In Chad

CHADIAN security forces have arrested the youngest son of Boko Haram’s late founder, Mohammed Yusuf, who was allegedly leading a jihadist cell in the country.

According to intelligence sources and former insurgents, the suspect was detained along with five other members of the cell.

A Nigerian intelligence officer stationed in the Lake Chad region confirmed the arrest, describing the group as a six-man unit.

“He and the team were arrested by Chadian security. They are six in number,” the officer said.

The officer noted that the young man was still an infant when his father was killed during a Nigerian military crackdown in 2009 that left about 800 people dead. He estimated the suspect’s current age at around 18.
