Delta Police, Bankers Strategise On Security Ahead Of Yuletide

THE Delta State Police Command has engaged with members of the Bankers’ Forum in the state as part of proactive security measures ahead of the festive season.

At a strategic meeting held on Tuesday, 23rd September 2025, the Commissioner of Police, Delta State Command, CP Olufemi Abaniwonda, represented by the Deputy Commissioner of Police (Operations), DCP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, urged banks to tighten their security architecture as the “ember months” traditionally witness increased criminal activities.

In attendance were the Chief Security Officer of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Asaba branch, Mrs Evangeline Patrick, and 39 heads of banks from across the state.

DCP Adejobi stressed the importance of installing advanced and functional CCTV systems to complement police monitoring efforts, noting that Delta’s geographical position — bordered by Edo State and other regions — makes it imperative to adopt robust strategies.

Mrs Patrick commended the police for the initiative, adding that the CBN does not release cash to banks that fail to provide adequate police escorts for specie movement.
