Delta Police Educate Corps Members On Cyber Safety

IN a bid to combat cybercrime and foster better community relations, the Delta State Police Command has held a special engagement session with National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members.

The initiative, directed by the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, PhD, saw the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, deliver a lecture at the state NYSC orientation camp on Wednesday.

The interactive session covered critical topics including cybercrime, law enforcement procedures, and the rights and responsibilities of citizens. Corps members were encouraged to be upstanding ambassadors for their country, to shun all forms of crime and violence, and to be honest in their future endeavours.

A significant portion of the talk emphasised the importance of knowing their fundamental rights and the constitutional duties of a citizen, as outlined in Section 24 of the 1999 Constitution.

This includes respecting national institutions and assisting law enforcement in maintaining peace.

On the issue of police accountability, the corps members were provided with official channels for lodging complaints against any police actions.

The event was described as insightful, with corps members actively participating by raising questions and observations, which were addressed to their satisfaction.
