NDLEA Moves to Forfeit Lagos Nightclub Over Alleged Drug Party

THE National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has announced plans to seek the forfeiture of Proxy Night Club in Victoria Island, Lagos, following a raid on the premises during an alleged drug party over the weekend.

In a statement issued by the agency’s spokesperson, Femi Babafemi, the NDLEA warned nightclub owners, event centre operators, and property managers against allowing their venues to be used for drug-related gatherings, stressing that they risk losing such properties to the Federal Government if found complicit.

The agency confirmed the arrest of Lagos socialite, Mike Eze Nwalie Nwogu, popularly known as Pretty Mike, along with over 100 guests during the midnight operation.

According to the NDLEA, the raid followed intelligence indicating that the club was hosting a drug-themed event. Undercover operatives reportedly monitored the venue from around 11 p.m. on Saturday, 25 October, before carrying out the raid at about 3 a.m. on Sunday.

Cartons of illicit substances, including Canadian Loud and nitrous oxide (commonly known as laughing gas), were said to have been recovered from partygoers and the club’s storage area.

Describing drug parties as criminal acts under the NDLEA Act, the agency stated that those arrested were being screened to determine their level of involvement. While most attendees were profiled and released after counselling, Pretty Mike and his manager, Joachin Millary, remain in custody following the recovery of 384.882kg of cannabis and other substances.

The NDLEA added that it would initiate legal proceedings to confiscate the nightclub and vowed to intensify its clampdown on similar gatherings across the country.

The agency further urged parents, community leaders, and the general public to remain vigilant and support the ongoing campaign against drug abuse, which it described as a growing threat to young people and public safety.
