A 74-year-old visually impaired man, Pa Julius Nwafor, was among the early and enthusiastic voters who turned out at the Umuezeadigo Street Polling Unit 002 in Isuofia community, Aguata Local Government Area of Anambra State, on Saturday.
He arrived at the venue as early as 7:30 a.m., led by his elderly daughter.
Isuofia is the hometown of the incumbent governor, Professor Charles Soludo, while Aguata LGA is one of the seven local government areas that make up Anambra South Senatorial District.
Speaking with PUNCH Online, Nwafor, a veteran trader, said he considered participating in the election a duty he owed his country.
“Even though I am visually impaired, as far as I am a Nigerian, I am supposed to vote to satisfy my conscience. And that’s why I am here,” he said.
