Police Nab Suspected Armed Robber, Recover Gun Hidden In Loaf Of Bread

THE Delta State Police Command has arrested a suspected armed robber and kidnapper after discovering a fabricated Beretta pistol ingeniously concealed inside a loaf of bread.

According to a statement issued on Saturday, 8th November 2025, by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, the arrest was made on 6th November 2025 at about 8:45 a.m. during a routine stop-and-search operation by operatives of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) at Koka Roundabout, Asaba.

The suspect, identified as Nnamdi Stanley Chibuike, aged 24, and a resident of Ogbeowele Quarters, behind General Hospital, Asaba, was reportedly behaving suspiciously, prompting officers to conduct a thorough search.

It was during this search that the operatives uncovered a fabricated Beretta pistol carefully hidden inside a loaf of bread.

Chibuike was immediately arrested and taken into custody, while the recovered weapon has been secured as an exhibit.

The police have commenced an investigation to determine his possible involvement in recent armed robbery and kidnapping incidents within the Asaba metropolis and neighbouring communities.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Olufemi Abaniwonda, commended the RRS operatives for their vigilance and professionalism, describing the arrest as a testament to the Command’s dedication to intelligence-led policing.

“This discovery reinforces our commitment to proactive policing.

“No matter how criminals attempt to disguise their weapons or activities, our officers will continue to identify, arrest, and bring them to justice,” CP Abaniwonda stated.

He urged members of the public to remain alert and continue to support the police by providing credible information, assuring that all reports would be treated with the utmost confidentiality.

The Delta State Police Command reiterated its determination to maintain peace and security across the state through sustained intelligence gathering and swift operational response.
