THE Delta State Police Command has recorded another major breakthrough in its sustained campaign against violent crime, with the arrest of two suspected members of a criminal syndicate and the recovery of an AK-47 rifle in Oghara, Ethiope West Local Government Area.

The operation, carried out by the CP-Special Assignment Team (CP-SAT) led by ASP Julius Robinson, followed a similar success on 24 November when confessed cultists were apprehended and a pump-action gun seized.
Acting on fresh intelligence, the police team intensified surveillance and launched coordinated follow-up raids across strategic locations in Oghara.
During the exercise on 25 November, operatives arrested 38-year-old Justice Ikutu and 55-year-old Peter Okomeje, both believed to be connected to a network involved in cult activities and armed robbery.
A search conducted at the residence of another gang member, Peter Kome, yielded the recovery of an AK-47 rifle fitted with a double magazine, along with other incriminating exhibits relevant to ongoing investigations.
Confirming the development, Commissioner of Police, Delta State Command, CP Olufemi Abaniwonda, commended the CP-SAT team for what he described as “a decisive and professional operation that has once again disrupted criminal activities in the area.”
