THE Delta State Police Command has arrested a total of 19 suspects in its latest clampdown on cultism, violent crime, and illicit drug activities across the state.
The combined efforts, led by operatives under the leadership of the Commissioner of Police, Delta State Command, CP Olufemi Abaniwonda, reflect the Command’s strengthened commitment to intelligence-led policing and public safety.

In one of the operations, conducted at about 0730hrs on 6 December 2025 in Abraka, operatives of the CP-Special Assignment Team (CP-SAT), led by ASP Julius Robinson, acted on credible intelligence and executed a coordinated search at No. 2 Umeghe Community, Abraka, the residence of one Isiakpere Friday ‘m’ (67 yrs).
The operation, according to SP Bright Edafe in a statement on Saturday, led to the recovery of two (2) pump-action guns and thirty-nine (39) live cartridges.
The suspect is currently in custody as investigations continue to establish possible links to cult groups, arms suppliers, and other criminal networks operating in the State.
In a separate operation, personnel of the Buffalo Unit concluded sustained surveillance and enforcement activities targeted at curbing the sales and abuse of illicit drugs in parts of Delta State.

This resulted in the arrest and arraignment of eighteen (18) male suspects before a competent court on 5 December 2025.
Those arrested in connection with illegal drug distribution include: Wisdom Nwanze (38), Godspower Vincent (25), Trust Bobua (17), David Mifford (21), Friday Daniel (35), Emmanuel Dakuru (25), Innatji Ekenea (27), Umar Isah (22), Samuel Hosanna (31), Rabiu Abubakar (31), Dada Usman (22), Dada Usman (20), Danjuma Jonathan (31), Onyeka Solomon (16), Garba Abdullaman (20), Rolniho Paul (26), Abwal Clarius (30), and Aliyu Abubarka (22).
All suspects have been remanded pending the fulfilment of their bail conditions.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Olufemi Abaniwonda, praised the officers for their professionalism and efficiency, noting that the achievements highlight the Delta State Police Command’s unwavering commitment to ridding the State of crime.
He reaffirmed that cultism, unlawful possession of firearms, drug trafficking, and any acts capable of disrupting the peace will not be tolerated.
