According to the Police, the breakthrough followed actionable intelligence received on 28 December 2025, which led operatives of the Commissioner of Police Special Assignment Team (CP-SAT), led by ASP Julius Robinson, to raid a criminal hideout in the Otorwhodo area of Ughelli North.

During the operation, a 24-year-old suspect, Moses Tejiri, a native and resident of the area, was arrested, while other members of the gang reportedly fled by scaling nearby fences.

A search conducted on the suspect led to the recovery of the firearms and ammunition.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect allegedly confessed to involvement in a series of armed robbery operations around Ekredjebor, Olu Avenue, Winners Road and other parts of the Ughelli metropolis.

In a related operation, the Police also arrested another suspect, Isu Emmanuel, over the alleged illegal sale and distribution of controlled drugs.

The arrest followed intensified surveillance by operatives of the State Intelligence Department (SID) on 29 December 2025 at a hotel located along Okpanam Road, Victoria Junction.

The suspect, who claimed to be a nurse at Guard Health Pharmacy, Okpanam, was reputed for dispensing prohibited drugs to members of the public without doctors’ prescriptions.

Items recovered from him included 28 sachets of tramadol, 16 sachets of Swindol (100mg), three bottles of Barcadine containing codeine syrup and other controlled substances.

The Delta State Police Command said the suspects are currently in custody and that investigations are ongoing, with efforts being intensified to apprehend other fleeing members of the armed robbery syndicate.
