OPERATIVES of the Enugu State Police Command have arrested three male suspects and recovered an array of firearms, ammunition and illicit substances during two separate operations aimed at cracking down on criminal activities in the state.

The breakthroughs, which underscore the Command’s sustained commitment to proactive crime-fighting, were announced in a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, Superintendent Daniel Ndukwe.

In the first operation on 19th January 2026, personnel from the Anti-Cultism Tactical Squad, acting on credible intelligence, apprehended two suspects in the Awkunanaw area of Enugu South Local Government Area. The suspects were identified as Mba Emmanuel, popularly known as “Indomie,” aged 31, and Onukwube Nnam, also known as “Nwa Amodu,” aged 35.

Upon interrogation, both men reportedly confessed to being members of the Supreme Vikings Confraternity. Mba Emmanuel was further identified as the head and executioner of the unlawful group in Enugu South LGA as of December 2025.

Items recovered from the suspects include one pump-action gun, a locally fabricated Beretta-type pistol, 31 live cartridges, a large wrap of substance suspected to be cannabis sativa, one HP laptop and a motorcycle.

In a related operation on 31st January 2026, police operatives raided criminal hideouts in the Agbani axis, leading to the arrest of eight suspects. Following thorough screening, one suspect, Ezeani Monday, aged 32, was found in possession of dried substance suspected to be cannabis sativa and 39 pellets of suspected crystal methamphetamine, commonly known as “Mkpuru-mmiri.” The remaining seven suspects were released after preliminary investigations.

The Commissioner of Police, Mamman Bitrus Giwa, has reassured residents of the Command’s unwavering resolve to protect lives and property.

He issued a strong warning to individuals involved in armed robbery, cultism and illicit drug activities, urging them to renounce their criminal ways or face the full weight of the law.

SP Daniel Ndukwe, who serves as the Police Public Relations Officer for the Enugu State Command, confirmed these developments in the official release.
