The Delta State Police Command has condemned in strong terms the alleged sexual assault and molestation of young women captured in disturbing videos from Oramudu quarters, Ozoro, in Isoko North Local Government Area.

The footage, which emerged from a purported local event, has prompted the Commissioner of Police, CP Aina Adesola, to order an immediate and full-scale investigation into the incident.

In a statement released on Friday by the command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, police confirmed that the chief organiser, one Chief Omorede Sunday, and four other suspects had been arrested. In a further development, the community head of Oramudu and five others have also been taken into custody.

The Commissioner has directed that the case be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for thorough investigation. Tactical and investigative units have been deployed with a clear mandate to identify, apprehend, and ensure the prosecution of all individuals found culpable.

The police command described the acts as criminal, inhumane, and a grave violation of the fundamental rights and dignity of the victims, stating unequivocally that such behaviour would not be tolerated.

“The Command unequivocally condemns such acts in their entirety,” the statement read. “Acts of sexual violence are criminal, inhumane, and constitute a grave violation of the fundamental rights and dignity of victims.”

Authorities have appealed to members of the public, particularly victims and witnesses, to come forward with any information that may assist the ongoing investigation. All information provided, the command assured, would be treated with strict confidentiality and the highest level of professionalism.

CP Aina Adesola also appealed to residents of the state to remain calm, vigilant, and law-abiding, while reaffirming the command’s commitment to protecting lives, safeguarding the rights of all citizens, and maintaining public order.

The Delta State Police Command assured that all those involved in what it described as “reprehensible acts” would be arrested and prosecuted in accordance with the law.
