Ozoro Incident: Delta AG, Police Partner to Ensure Swift Prosecution of Culprits

ASABA — In a concerted move to ensure justice following the recent unrest in Ozoro, the Delta State Attorney-General, Mr Ekemejero Ohwovoriole, SAN, has partnered with the state police command to guarantee a swift investigation and diligent prosecution of those involved.

The Attorney-General led a delegation to the State Headquarters in Asaba on Monday, 23rd March 2026, where he was received by the Commissioner of Police, CP Aina Adesola, psc.

Mr Ohwovoriole praised the police leadership for their swift response in restoring calm after the ugly incident, which had sparked significant public outcry. He reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to supporting the police and ensuring that anyone found culpable is prosecuted to serve as a deterrent.

“We are here to strengthen the partnership between the state and the command to ensure that justice is served,” the AG stated.

In response, CP Adesola appreciated the state government’s support in restoring peace to the affected area. He assured the public that such an incident would not recur, revealing that he had personally visited Ozoro to engage with stakeholders.

“I have charged the investigation team to ensure the swift prosecution of those directly involved in this ugly act,” the CP said. He further reassured the public that the command remains resolute in ensuring all identified culprits face the full weight of the law.

The police spokesman, SP Bright Edafe, ANIPR, FCIA, FIPMD, confirmed the meeting in a statement released to the press.
