Delta Police Foil Kidnap Plot, Bust Drug Dens In Major Crackdown

THE Delta State Police Command has recorded significant breakthroughs in its ongoing operations, successfully foiling a kidnap plot and dismantling drug networks across the region in two days of coordinated raids.

In the first major strike, anti-crime patrol operatives attached to the Orerokpe division raided a suspected drug hideout in Ugholo community at about 10:23pm on 15 April 2026. During the operation, officers arrested a 33-year-old female drug baron, Justina Onokpasa.

Authorities recovered a substantial haul of illicit substances, including two large bags of weeds suspected to be Canadian Loud, 300 small cans of the same substance, 30 bottles of CSC codeine, ten sachets of tramadol, two sachets of ‘Super Royal’ (Redboy), 12 sachets of Swinol, 12 pieces of Molly, and 400 empty distribution cans.

The following day, on 16 April at about 11:45am, operatives from the State Anti-Cult Unit (SACU) raided additional drug spots in Abraka, arresting three suspects. Large quantities of weeds suspected to be Indian hemp and other illicit drugs were seized.

Commissioner of Police, CP Yemi Oyeniyi, praised the operatives and reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to sustaining the momentum. He urged members of the public to continue supporting the police with credible information.

According to SP. Bright Edafe, Police Public Relations Officer, Delta State Command, all suspects remain in custody as investigations continue.
