OPERATIVES from the Delta State Police Command’s Violent Crime Response Unit (VCRU) have apprehended two individuals believed to be involved in drug trafficking following an early morning operation in Sapele Local Government Area.
The raid took place at approximately 5.30am on 22nd May 2026, when officers acting on intelligence targeted a suspected drug dealers’ hideout in the Amukpe area of Sapele.
Those arrested have been named as Onyedikachi, a 40-year-old male, and Edna Karaki, a 36-year-old female, both residents of Amukpe.
During a search of the premises, officers recovered a substantial quantity of suspected illicit and controlled substances, including Tramadol, CSC Codeine, Molly, Swinol, Vagadine, Red Boy, Zaza, Taker, and other substances believed to be harmful drugs.
According to police sources, the suspects reportedly confessed during questioning to dealing in controlled substances. Both remain in custody as investigations continue into the full extent of their alleged operations and potential links to a wider network.
‘Drugs Fuel Violent Crime’
Commissioner of Police for Delta State Command, CP Yemi Oyeniyi, praised the VCRU operatives for the successful operation and reiterated the Command’s determination to tackle drug trafficking across the state.
The Commissioner warned that illicit drug abuse often fuels more serious offences, including cultism and armed robbery, and assured residents that intelligence-led operations would continue.
