MILITARY forces have killed multiple Boko Haram and ISWAP terrorists, foiled coordinated attacks, and rescued nearly 70 kidnapped civilians during sustained operations across the North East, the Headquarters of Joint Task Force Operation HADIN KAI has confirmed.
In a statement released on Thursday, Lieutenant Colonel Sani Uba, Media Information Officer, said troops successfully thwarted terrorist activity along the Buratai–Chara axis in Borno State after surveillance systems spotted large numbers of hostile elements. Troops engaged with offensive fire, forcing the terrorists to withdraw in disarray.
Pursuit operations by Quick Response Forces inflicted significant casualties and recovered 169 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition. No military casualties were reported.
Acting on credible intelligence, troops of 27 Task Force Brigade, alongside the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) and local hunters, conducted a successful ambush around Kasaicia village in Gujba Local Government Area of Yobe State. Four Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorists were neutralised, and two AK-47 rifles with empty magazines were recovered.
In a separate encounter, troops of Sector 1 OPHK repelled an attack along the Kirawa axis, inflicting heavy losses on the assailants while maintaining control of the battlespace. Multiple offensive operations were also carried out across the Damboa–Kanama, Damboa–Gwoza and Goniri axes, as well as Forward Operating Base Azir, denying terrorists freedom of movement.
Arrests and Counter-Criminal Operations
In Biu Local Government Area of Borno State, troops arrested three suspected armed robbers at Gar Gwigwi village. Items recovered included mobile phones, wristwatches, charms, a dagger, cash, and a dane gun – the latter returned to its rightful owner after verification. All suspects are in custody.
Further operations led to the arrest of a suspected terrorist collaborator in Monguno and a suspected drug peddler in Mubi South Local Government Area of Adamawa State, where substances believed to be cannabis sativa were seized.
Rescues and Humanitarian Efforts
Rescue operations along the Ngoshe–Amuda axis have brought the total number of rescued civilians from the Ngoshe incident to 69. In the Gwoza axis, a kidnapped civilian was rescued who later disclosed he had escaped terrorist captivity due to sustained military pressure and bombardment of enclaves within the Mandara Mountains.
Four civilians previously rescued through cross-border collaboration were formally received, given medical attention, documented, and reunited with their families.
In Sector 2 at Damaturu, Yobe State, troops marked Eid-el-Adha with a Sallah event hosted by the Sector Commander, Brigadier General Edet Effiong, bringing together troops, dignitaries, community leaders, and patients from the Level II Field Hospital to boost morale and strengthen civil-military ties.
The Commander commended troops for their sacrifices and urged continued discipline and dedication.
Recoveries during clearance operations also included bombs and improvised explosive devices in the Magza general area, along with logistics items abandoned by fleeing terrorists.
The Theatre Command reassured the public of its commitment to sustaining operational pressure, protecting civilians, and restoring lasting security and stability across the North East region.
