Delta Police Net Suspected Drug Baron, Two Women in Warri Raid

Rita Enemuru, Reporting

THE Delta State Police Command has dealt a double blow to criminal networks operating across the state, arresting four suspected fraudsters and two alleged drug dealers in two separate intelligence-led operations on 9 June 2026.

In the first operation, operatives from the Special Anti-Kidnapping Unit acted on credible intelligence to track down a five-man syndicate accused of peddling fake United States currency to unsuspecting members of the public.

The suspects were reportedly operating from a red, unregistered Mercedes-Benz GLK SUV.

The team arrested four men – identified as Joshua Nwaosa, Daniel Arhewe, Prince Chukwuma, and John Egwuba – along Nnebisi Road in Asaba.

During initial questioning, the suspects admitted to using a hideout in the city as their base of operations.

A subsequent search of the property led to the discovery of 1,600 counterfeit US dollar notes, along with military camouflage clothing concealed on the premises.

Police said investigations are ongoing to determine the full extent of the syndicate’s activities.

In a separate operation on the same day at approximately 11:15am, the Violent Crime Response Unit (VCRU) raided the Owaliru and Alihame communities in Ika North-East Local Government Area.

Two female suspects were apprehended in possession of large quantities of illicit substances.

The suspects, named as Ifeoma Egbule, 36, and Anayeokwu Florence, 51, were found with a haul of prohibited drugs including GH Gold, Colorado, cannabis, and Canadian Loud. Both women are believed to have been actively involved in distributing the substances within the local area, and police say efforts are under way to track down other members of the drug network.

Commissioner of Police for Delta State, CP Yemi Oyeniyi, praised the operatives for their professionalism and dedication.

He reaffirmed the command’s commitment to sustaining intelligence-led operations aimed at dismantling criminal networks and ensuring the safety of all residents of Delta State.

All suspects remain in police custody as investigations continue.
