Rita Enemuru, Reporting
IN a sustained offensive against violent crime across Delta State, the police command has recorded multiple operational breakthroughs, including the rescue of a kidnap victim without the payment of any ransom, the arrest of three suspected armed robbers, and the recovery of both a firearm and hard drugs in separate intelligence-led operations over the past seventy-two hours.

The most dramatic of the successes came from the Command’s Special Anti-Kidnapping and Cyber Crime Squad, known as SAKU, which successfully located and rescued a male victim who had been abducted by armed men at Okpanam on 10th June 2026.
Acting on a report received the following day, operatives deployed sophisticated intelligence assets and began mounting strategic pressure on the kidnappers’ hideout. As the net tightened through sustained intelligence gathering and operational deployment, the suspects abandoned their hostage and fled, leaving the victim unharmed. He was subsequently debriefed and reunited with his family, though a manhunt for the fleeing abductors continues.
In a separate operation in Asaba on 12th June at around 12:30pm, operatives of the Distress 01 Patrol Team attached to the Department of Operations intercepted a tricycle carrying three occupants during a routine motorised patrol. A search of the suspects led to the recovery of one locally fabricated Beretta pistol. Those arrested were identified as Ewendeze De-Grace, aged 19; Eruweghene Amede, 20; and Chukwuemeka Arinze, 21.

Preliminary investigations have since revealed that the trio are members of the Aro Bagger Confraternity, and they remain in custody as enquiries continue.
Meanwhile, in Kwale on 10th June, operatives of the divisional police command acting on credible intelligence raided a suspected drug distribution point. Upon sighting the officers, two male suspects fled the premises, but a female suspect, identified as 45-year-old Ananyi Vivian, was arrested. A preliminary investigation confirmed that the premises were being used for illicit drug-related activities, and during interrogation, the suspect admitted to being aware of the illegal operations taking place at the location. Concerted efforts are now underway to apprehend the two fugitives and bring all those connected to the drug point to justice.

The Commissioner of Police for Delta State, CP Yemi Oyeniyi, has commended the officers involved in the operations for their professionalism, vigilance, and dedication to duty.
He reaffirmed the command’s unwavering resolve to combat all forms of crime and criminality, and urged members of the public to continue supporting the police with timely and credible information to aid ongoing efforts to keep Delta State safe and secure.
