A 32-year-old man, Etinosa Aiguokun, has clubbed his biological father and step mother to death with a pestle.
The deceased couple were identified as 74-year-old Mr Aiguokun and his wife, Roseline.
The incident occurred last week, at Evbomore community in the Ovia North-East Local Government Area of Edo State, Nigeria.
Crimes Chroniclers gathered that trouble started when the suspect was enraged after a violent altercation leading to a fisticuffs.
The suspect, in a rage, grabbed a pestle from the kitchen, charged after the father in the living room and smashed him in the head.
The stepmother, who had rushed to the scene after being jolted by screams from her husband, also got her portion of the clubbing from the suspect.
Both gave up the ghost before help could reach them, it was gathered.
Realising his mistakes, the suspect reportedly dragged the lifeless bodies of the couple to the back of the house.
Working on instincts, he dumped them beside a septic tank and covered them with weeds, cleaned up the blood stains in the house and waited to think of the next step.
Next, Etinosa picked up his late father’s mobile phone, and sold it for N25,000 at the King’s Square, in Benin City.
Sources said that when the other children of the deceased returned home, they started searching for their parents and the suspect also joined them in the search.
They said the case of the missing couple got to the police station.
“Following a report of missing persons at the Ugbowo Division of the Police, the operatives swung into investigation.
“The bodies of the deceased were recovered at the back of the house, and the suspect confessed to the killing.
“The suspect, who could not give any genuine reason for killing his father and stepmother, was subsequently arrested,” one of the sources hinted.
Meanwhile, the Edo State Police Command’s spokesman, SP Chidi Nwabuzor, has confirmed the incident and arrest of the suspect.
He said the suspect has been transferred to the Homicide Department of the Command for a discrete investigation.
Nwabuzor further confirmed that the corpses have been deposited in the mortuary for autopsy and further investigations.
