Navy Dismantles Illegal Refineries, Seizes Stolen Crude Oil

THE Nigerian Navy has uncovered and dismantled four illegal refining sites in Delta State, seizing large quantities of stolen crude oil and illegally refined diesel.

On 26th February, personnel from Forward Operating Base (FOB) Escravos raided the sites at Obodo in Omadino Community, Warri South West LGA, as part of Operation Delta Sanity II.

The operation, based on credible intelligence, led to the discovery of approximately 2,500 litres of stolen crude oil and 2,200 litres of illegally refined Automotive Gas Oil (AGO), stored in five ovens, 11 dugout pits, and 25 polythene sacks.

The mission aligns with the strategic directives of the Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral EI Ogalla, to eliminate all forms of illegal activities in Nigeria’s maritime domain.

Commanding Officer of FOB Escravos, Navy Captain Ikenna Okoloagu, warned against further involvement in crude oil theft, stating: “We will not relent in our efforts to crack down on economic saboteurs. Those engaging in illegal refining must stop now or face the full force of the law.”
