Enugu Ritualist Names Accomplices, Exposes Cult Network (+PHOTOS)

IN connection with a series of shocking ritual killings in Umumba, Ezeagu Local Government Area of Enugu State, High Chief Levi Onyeka Obu, popularly known as Ezeani, Ichie Billion, has been taken into custody.

CrimesChroniclers reliably gathered that the arrest follows a successful rescue operation on May 27, 2025, during which police operatives, working with Neighbourhood Watch personnel and community members, rescued a 13-year-old girl allegedly kidnapped for ritual purposes.

The decomposing bodies of a man and a woman were also discovered buried in a concrete-sealed pit within the suspect’s compound.

Ezeani, since his detention, has reportedly begun cooperating with police, making confessional statements and naming several members of a cult group operating in Ezeagu.

According to investigators, he has provided the names and contact details of some of his accomplices, aiding efforts to dismantle the network.

Authorities believe the victims found in the pit were buried alive as part of ritual practices allegedly carried out for spiritual and financial purposes, including the notorious “okeite” ritual.

The Enugu State Government, in response to the horrifying incident, has demolished buildings and shrines owned by the suspect, emphasizing a zero-tolerance stance on ritual killings and criminal occultism.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Mamman Bitrus Giwa, during his visit at the crime scene, commended the joint effort of security forces and locals, and directed intensified manhunts for all named accomplices.

As of press time, the rescued teenager was receiving medical treatment, and investigations were ongoing as more arrests are expected in the coming days.
