THE Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D, on Wednesday, hosted a delegation of prominent traditional rulers at the Force Headquarters in Abuja, emphasising the critical role of traditional institutions in promoting effective community policing.
The delegation was led by the Alaafin of Oyo, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Akeem Abimbola Owoade, accompanied by his wife.
Other monarchs in attendance included the Ataoja of Osogbo, the Olu of Ilaro, the Oloro of Oro, and the Olusin of Ijora Isin.

Also present was Prince Akeem Adeyemi, a serving Member of the House of Representatives, alongside other federal lawmakers and DIG Adebowale Williams, the coordinating Deputy Inspector-General of Police for the South-West geo-political zone.
During the meeting, the IGP highlighted the strategic importance of traditional rulers in fostering safety and security across grassroots communities.
He called for strengthened collaboration between the Nigeria Police Force and traditional institutions, noting that their involvement is vital in achieving sustainable peace and inclusive development.

In a related engagement, the IGP received Mr Michal Cygan, Ambassador Designate of the Republic of Poland, and representatives from W-B Group, a leading Polish security solutions provider.
Discussions centred on establishing an integrated communication platform to enhance the ICT capacity of the Nigeria Police Force.
The initiative aligns with the IGP’s ongoing reforms to modernise policing through technology and intelligence-led operations.
Reaffirming the Force’s commitment to professionalism and technological advancement, IGP Egbetokun reiterated his vision for a police system that is service-oriented, rule of law compliant, and proactive in addressing security challenges.
