THE 9 Brigade of the Nigerian Army, Ikeja, has handed over a 36-year-old man, Animashaun Khalid, to the Lagos State Police Command for impersonating a military officer.
Khalid was arrested at the Arena Market, Oshodi, in possession of a forged Nigerian Army identity card bearing his name and the rank of Major. He was promptly apprehended by soldiers and transferred to the police in what officials described as a seamless operation demonstrating strong inter-agency cooperation.
The case has been assigned to Special Squad I, which is investigating the source of the forged documents, possible accomplices, and whether the suspect exploited the fake identity to commit other offences. Authorities said he would be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.
Lagos State Commissioner of Police, CP Olohundare Jimoh, commended the Nigerian Army for the swift arrest and immediate handover.
