THE Kano State Police Command has announced the arrest of three suspects in connection with separate cases of motor vehicle theft, leading to the recovery of two stolen vehicles.

According to a statement issued on Friday by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, the arrests were made following intelligence-led investigations and inter-state collaboration.

In the first case, a Toyota Corolla (2013 model, dark ash) reported stolen on 4 August 2025 from a car stand along Katsina Road was traced and recovered on 30 August. The suspect, identified as Zubairu Usman, abandoned the vehicle at Kabuga Flyover before fleeing the scene.

In the second incident, a Toyota Hilux stolen on 25 August from a residence on Hadejia Road was tracked through coordinated efforts with the Taraba State Police Command. The vehicle was found in the possession of a car dealer, Yallah Kadara, aged 43, who admitted to buying it from Alamin Tasiu, the alleged mastermind. Two other accomplices, Jacob Augustine and Sa’adu Bello, were also arrested for their roles in the sale of the stolen vehicle.

Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, PhD, praised the professionalism of the detectives who handled the cases and commended members of the public for their cooperation. He urged residents to remain vigilant and to promptly report suspicious activities to the nearest police station or via the Command’s emergency hotlines.

The Command reaffirmed its commitment to tackling organised crime and safeguarding lives and property across Kano State.
