How 12 Women Farmers Were Kidnapped In Borno

Ola ‘Kiya, Reporting

SUSPECTED Boko Haram militants have abducted 12 women in the Mussa district of Askira-Uba Local Government Area in Borno State.

The women were reportedly seized on Saturday evening whilst returning from their farms.

Nahum Daso, the Police Public Relations Officer, confirmed the incident to Channels Television on Sunday.

Daso stated that the Command has launched an investigation into the abduction.

“There was an abduction yesterday, the abduction of twelve females when they were coming back from their farms in Askira-Uba, by suspected Boko Haram,” he said.

“The details are still sketchy, but efforts are underway,” the PPRO added.

This kidnapping is the latest in a distressing wave of attacks by gunmen across various states in northern Nigeria.

In a separate incident last Monday, gunmen kidnapped 25 schoolgirls from the Government Girls Comprehensive Secondary School in Maga, Kebbi State, an attack which also left the school’s vice principal dead.

The following day, over 300 schoolchildren were taken by bandits from St. Mary’s Catholic Primary and Secondary Schools in Papiri, Niger State.

The local Catholic diocese later reported that 50 of the children managed to escape.

Also on Tuesday, gunmen attacked the Christ Apostolic Church in Eruku, Kwara State, killing three people and abducting 38 worshippers.

The Kwara State Government has since confirmed that all 38 hostages have been freed.
