A 19-year-old woman has been arraigned before an Ejigbo Magistrates’ Court in Lagos State, charged with stealing $5,000 and N100,000 belonging to her employer.
Fatimo Abidemi Fatoki is accused of stealing the money from her boss, Madam Okolie Precious, at a residence on Lola Akindosu Street, Egbeda, Lagos, between October 2025 and January 2026.
According to police reports, the suspect allegedly had access to the location where the complainant kept the money and took it before the theft was discovered.
Following a report to the Idimu Police Division, officers investigated, arrested Fatoki, and detained her for questioning.
After interrogation, the police found her culpable and brought a charge of theft before the court. The charge, citing Section 280(a) and punishable under Section 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State 2015, states she “dishonestly stole $5,000… and N100,000… property of one Okolie Precious.”

The defendant pleaded not guilty to the offence, which carries a potential prison sentence.
The prosecuting officer, Inspector Simeon Njue, requested a hearing date to allow the police to present evidence against her.
Presiding Magistrate F.R. Ogunkoyede granted the defendant bail set at N2 million.
The conditions require two sureties for the same amount, who must provide proof of livelihood and tax payment, with their addresses subject to court verification.
The case was adjourned for mention. Fatoki was remanded in custody at the Kirikiri Correctional Centre pending the fulfilment of her bail conditions.
