THREE employees of a Mobil filling station in Lagos State have been arrested and charged with stealing a combined total of ₦9.2 million from the company’s sales.
Adoke Habib, 29; Seye Oyegbola, 32; and Anuoluwapo Godwin, 28, appeared before an Ogba Magistrate’s Court in Lagos State, where they face separate counts of theft.
According to police reports, the defendants allegedly conspired with others still at large to take the money on 13th and 14th March 2026 at the Mobil filling station in Agidingbi.
The offence came to light after the company conducted an internal audit, which revealed the missing funds. Investigations traced the shortfall to the three men, who were reportedly unable to explain what had happened to the money.
The matter was reported to the Alausa police division. Following their arrest and interrogation, officers concluded that the trio were culpable.
Prosecutors allege that Habib stole ₦950,000, Oyegbola took ₦4,473,400, and Godwin made off with ₦3,796,900 – all property of the Mobil filling station. The alleged offences are contrary to Section 287 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, and carry the possibility of several years’ imprisonment.
All three defendants pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, Superintendent Josephine Ihkayere, asked the court for a hearing date to allow the police to prove the case against them.
Presiding Magistrate L.A. Owolabi granted the defendants bail with sureties, who must provide evidence of a means of livelihood and tax payments. Their addresses will be verified by the court.
The case was adjourned for mention, and the defendants were remanded in custody at the correctional centre in Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending the perfection of their bail conditions.
