Student Gunned Down In Suspected Cult Clash Tragedy

THE Rivers State Police Command has launched a full-scale investigation into a suspected cult-related killing that claimed the life of a university student in Rumuolumeni, Port Harcourt.

According to police sources, the victim, 300-level student Julius Okpor of Ignatius Ajuru University, was fatally shot around Cecilia Road at approximately 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, 20th July.

The 23-year-old, a native of Okposi in Ogba/Egbema Local Government Area, was allegedly attacked by suspected members of a rival cult group.

Police officers from the Rumuolumeni Division responded swiftly to a distress call and rushed Okpor to the University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

Preliminary findings point to an ongoing feud between rival cult factions in the area.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Olugbenga Adepoju, has condemned the violence and assured residents that the command is committed to stamping out cultism.
