THE Delta State Police Command has recorded significant operational successes in its sustained crackdown on criminal activities across the state, arresting 12 suspects and recovering a cache of dangerous weapons and illicit drugs in two separate, intelligence-led operations.

In the first operation, operatives of the Command’s Buffalo Patrol Team, while on routine stop-and-search duty on January 22, 2026, intercepted a green Toyota Sienna at the Head Bridge boundary between Anambra and Delta states. The vehicle was reportedly travelling from Anambra into Delta State.

According to the police, the occupants, who were all dressed in mufti, claimed they were heading into Delta State to welcome a visiting religious leader.

However, a thorough search of the vehicle led to the discovery of three pump-action guns, one locally fabricated dane gun, one battle axe and 26 live cartridges concealed inside the vehicle.

Six suspects were arrested in connection with the interception. They are Nwanlioba Ikechukwu Dominic, 62; Agbata Mathew, 35; Osita Chineye, 39; Favour Peterson, 23; Prince Tochukwu, 32; and Clement Nwakwa, 51. The suspects have been taken into custody, while investigations are ongoing to determine their mission and possible accomplices.

In a related development, the Command also disrupted an organised drug syndicate operating within the Ugborikoko area of the state. The intelligence-driven raid was carried out on January 20, 2026, by operatives of the Ugborikoko Division under the supervision of the Divisional Police Officer, CSP Setemi Agbede-Zoukumor.

Police sources said the operation led to the arrest of seven suspects believed to be key players in a local drug supply network. A suspected dealer was initially arrested and subsequently provided information that enabled the police to track and arrest six other members of the syndicate.

The Commissioner of Police, Delta State Command, CP Aina Adesola, reiterated the Command’s resolve to dismantle criminal networks across the state, assuring residents that proactive and intelligence-led policing would be sustained to protect lives and property.
