THE Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has foiled an armed robbery attempt in Kado, Abuja, arresting one suspect and recovering several incriminating exhibits.

According to a press statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, the incident occurred in the early hours of Friday, 23 January 2026, at about 6:15 a.m., following a distress call received at the Mabushi Divisional Headquarters.

The caller reported that about three armed robbers were attacking motorists near the MRS Filling Station in Kado.

A police response team from the Mabushi Division was immediately mobilised to the scene. On sighting the officers, the suspects reportedly attempted to escape, leading to a hot pursuit and an exchange of gunfire.

During the operation, one of the suspects sustained gunshot injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital for medical attention, while the remaining suspects fled into surrounding bushes.

Items recovered at the scene included the suspects’ operational vehicle—a black Volkswagen Golf 2 with registration number JJJ 112 DW—one Beretta pistol, one locally made pistol, a Firman generator, two mobile phones, an Access Bank ATM card, a catapult, a pair of pliers, clothing items and footwear.

Police said efforts were ongoing to track down and arrest the fleeing suspects.

Reacting to the development, the Commissioner of Police, FCT Command, CP Miller G. Dantawaye, psc, reassured residents of the Federal Capital Territory of the Command’s unwavering commitment to the protection of lives and property.

He urged members of the public to remain vigilant and promptly report any suspicious activities to the police through the Command’s emergency lines: 08032003913 and 08028940883.
